Changi, take three
We’ve done Changi as a couple more times than we can count. This was the first time with a third passport in the bag and a baby strapped to Minmin’s front. Same airport, double the luggage, and suddenly every plant at Changi was something to grab.
BB Bagel’s first flight to Japan, with one job: survive it. He did better than us. He touched everything he could land a hand on, clowned around with Daddy, then slept on me like he’d paid for the seat.
We landed at Narita in the evening, took the Narita Express into Tokyo and a cab to the hotel. That was the whole day: a flight, a train, a cab, and one small passenger delivered to the hotel in one piece. Then came the real mission. Get him to sleep first, and only then do we eat. So dinner was the usual first-night Lawson haul spread over the desk, eaten quietly in the half-dark like two burglars. Some traditions survive a baby.
