Leaving Shikoku

Our last drive. Out of Kōchi early and north-east to Tokushima, then onto the expressway.

A stop at Michi-no-Eki Itano, a roadside station, for a stamp and snacks.

Awaji Island

Then over the Naruto Strait onto Awaji Island, and across it with the sea on one side.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

And off Awaji over the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge to Kobe. It was the longest suspension bridge in the world for 24 years.

Tolls for the whole drive came to ¥11,240. We returned the car in Kobe.

Returned

To Kyoto

A bento from Shin-Kobe Station (¥2,265) and the Shinkansen to Kyoto (¥7,200).

And a cab to Kamuroan, our home in Kyoto every time. Tea and a sweet waiting, same as before.

Katsukura

Dinner was tonkatsu at Katsukura in Teramachi, by bus (¥920 return). ¥5,100 for two.

Onward to Kennin-ji and Ginkaku-ji!
