Back in action
BB Bagel was better, so after Kamuroan we got moving. Coffee at Komeda’s first while he napped, then the Kintetsu limited express to Nara with Bulbasaur at the window. The bags went into lockers at the station, the best money we spent all day.

First stop in Nara was coffee and cake by the station, because priorities.

The deer
Then Nara Park and the deer. We last came in 2018, just the two of us. This time we brought someone new, and the deer were much more interested in him. We bought deer crackers, and the deer knew it before we did. Bagel stared at them. They stared back. I took my selfie with them, Minmin somewhere behind me.

A stag with antlers took a nap right next to us. Then Minmin went to the toilet, so Bagel chilled with me by the window. No idea why, but he suddenly started crying. The expression was too funny, had to take an unglam shot.

He came round again for the big deer gathering near Todai-ji, where dozens of them lie behind the fences like they’re waiting for a bus.

One deer came over to sniff Bagel’s feet. Bagel took it well.

Then a Grancha down Higashimuki and the Hinotori to Osaka.
Postcard from Nara
Over a thousand wild deer wander the park and its temples, protected as a Natural Monument. Shika senbei, the deer crackers, are sold around the park, and the deer know exactly what they look like.
