Dinner at Japanese Izakaya Restaurant Matsuri
After an afternoon of skiing, we headed back to Negula for a break. Our legs were literally aching, but we had to endure for tonight’s night ski! The folks from Negula helped us make a reservation once again for dinner. It is a Japanese Izakaya called Matsuri here in Annupuri. To be honest, the restaurants in these region weren’t exactly pocket friendly, especially for dinner. We picked one that was a little more budget friendly, because we just needed a quick bite before our night ski.
It began snowing heavily the moment we stepped out of the hotel. What a damper! And honestly the GPS was a little wonky up here, and we got a little lost because the roads were so dimly lit, and it was snowing all over. Fortunately we found the place, and we parked right in front of someone else’s house. Thank you for lending us your porch for an hour!
Cosy Log Cabin Style
Matsuri is a cosy restaurant with a log cabin interior. The staff greeted us with smiles on their faces. We thought we in a state of fashion disaster in our ski gear, but apparently everyone else there were too. The guests were mostly angmo, I guess drinking runs in their blood. I would say we were at the wrong place for dinner, but we ain’t got no choice.
We ordered a gozen (set meal) each, salmon sashimi for me, and venison sukiyaki for Minmin. I think we were famished from the intense activity in the afternoon. The food was surprisingly good, decently priced as well. The staff was pretty surprised, because we finished our food in less than 15 minutes and we were in here for less than an hour. No choice, chop chop need to go for our night ski!
